clear and precise
After working on my paper for class I realized how detailed the language of the United States Constitution was. I think that the our countries founders were doing their best to make sure that there would not be several interpretations of what they had written. However their plan back fired. The constitution is interpreted in so many ways, which is why I found our assignment so intriguing. Breaking apart just one amendment to get the most precise meaning took me hours. i wanted to make sure I had understood the integrity of the amendment, and to be perfectly honest I'm not sure if I did or not. writing the constitution must have been such a grueling process, but it had to be in order to guarantee the right of the American citizens. Reading through our constitution and the South African constitution it was clear to me that they were written in different times in our history. The language and structure is more sensible in the South African constitution. Maybe the U.S. should revamp the whole constitution. The basic fundamentals would remain the same, but the language and structure could be updated. I doubt that it will happen anytime soon, but its just a thought.

Church or State
Maybe It's just that I do not understand what the separation of church in state means, or maybe the line has been smeared in the media. When the pastor of the prominent Trinity Church of Christ made a sermon to his Congregation concerning Obama and Clinton the whole nation flipped out, but why? Why does it matter what this Reverend preaches to his people f there is a tr separation of church and state. No one gets upset when he preaches about the resurrection, or how Eve tempted Adam in the garden of Eden. Are churches not allowed to speak on politics, who made that a rule? Because of this Obama was forced to leave his church because he has to run a clean campaign. People will find anything to destroy their opposition, but to go as far as tearing apart a church, and having the media hassle congregation members on their way in and out of service is ridiculous. Can we for once focus on the issues for once and not what is being preached at the 10:00 am service at church.
THIS WAR NEEDS TO END!!!
While at work yesterday I discovered that one of my managers is a vet from our current war. He was sent into Iraq in 2003 right after the initial attack on Baghdad. He was a MP or military police officer sent in to bring "order" to the city. He told me about the heat he encountered in his uniform and the warm water he had to drink because the troops were not provided with a functioning ice machine for the first three weeks. He went on to tell about how there were not enough supplies when he arrived to the city which smelled like feces because there was no sewage system. The solider was pulled out of college three times to go fight, and since then has given up on his higher education. He admitted to having emotional issues from being isolated from loved ones. He only got one phone call a month and had to stand in line for two hours just to make that call the lasted for only a moment. Hearing constant explosions did not help with his mental state and moral either. This is just one story, and there are million just like it and even worse, and for what, oil? I resource that will run out eventually anyway. This was should not have been started and now needs to end. Lives are being destroyed so that the elitists in this country can have their way. The middle and lower class people of our country are losing their lives for nothing. My manager told me he made very little money and still lives in fear of the draft being reinstated and having to go back. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and why members of our government are OK with it.

John McCain needs to get it together!
So John McCain wants to start a face to face questioning session between the President and Congress if he is elected. Well that would be a great subject to take on if we as a society were not occupied with a recession, war, oil prices, poverty, health care, should I go on. I feel that as a candidate this is the last thing John McCain should be thinking about. Right now he should be figuring out how he is going to work with Congress to solve all these issues, not trying to set up a political boxing ring. At this point I do not feel It would be beneficial to our nation to have these thirty minute cat fights, although it would be very entertaining. I'm sure that it would become a headliner on VH1's celebriality! This not to say that these sessions are a bad idea in the future, but in our current state, McCain needs to come up with something more original. Maybe he can spend this time on developing a better campaign , because if this is where he is headed he does not stand a chance, not that he has one anyway. :)

Political Fears
Coming into this class I find myself very intimidated. I am aware of the things that are going on in the political world on the surface, but I know that I am lacking in a deeper understanding on how the system works. Being apart of a generation that may actually see it's first black president makes me very excited. It also makes me want to know more about the issues and the solutions offered so that in the end I vote for the right candidate. Hopefully this class will help me make more informed decision.
